Shawn Patterson began her retail stained glass career in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. The successful stained glass store in historic Front Royal was the place she put into practice over 30 years of experience in creating original stained glass art and her plan for stained glass instructional classes. Zenglass provided materials and instruction for aspiring valley stained glass artists throughout the Valley. Shawn is known for her creative original stained glass designs. Her individual style of stained glass has brought beauty and inspiration to local residents, retailers, parishioners and even monks. Known as a proficient glass artist with extensive experience in historic restoration Shawn participated in the restoration of the Tiffany windows at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis MD and other high visability glass projects included St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington DC also known "The President's Church" with it's location directly across from the White House. She found time to serve as an active member of the Retail Art Glass Suppliers, contributing an article to their 2004 Art Glass brochure. Shawn was featured in an instructional video sponsored by Voice of America China. Also an accomplished painter in watercolor, oil and acrylic she has sold and displayed her original glass work & paintings throughout the United States. Shawn and her husband returned to Oklahoma City after 28 years on the east coast. They focused immediately on establishing a stained glass/ gallery creative center in the Paseo Arts District. The result was Prairie Arts Collective. Shawn quickly attracted clients and a large group of happy students. Her 32 years of extensive stained glass experience continues to bring forth joy to the many people who visit the gallery in Oklahoma City's oldest arts district. |
